Why It All Started
KW Creators grew out of a shared love for creativity, community, and pop culture. Our story begins with conventions, where ideas thrive, friendships form, and people come together to celebrate what they love. For us, they were more than events; they were a spark that inspired us to explore our own creative paths.
We started in Kitchener-Waterloo, where we met in high school and bonded over video games, movies, and fandoms. From late-night talks about Nintendo releases to geeking out over our favorite movie franchises, those passions became the foundation of KW Creators.
When the pandemic hit, graduating during COVID-19 meant losing the in-person spaces we cherished. To keep that sense of connection alive, we launched a YouTube channel and podcast to share our thoughts on pop culture and build community online. We also worked on projects like running a fan wiki and joining virtual conventions such as Zelda Creator Con. These experiences showed us the power of connecting through shared interests.
Even as those projects wound down, the drive to create never faded. That passion gave life to KW Creators, a community built to celebrate talent, collaboration, and creativity.
Today, KW Creators brings the spirit of conventions to our hometown. We provide a platform for creators to showcase their work, for attendees to discover something new, and for everyone to feel part of a welcoming creative community.
